Defying the Odds & Living My Deferred Dreams Out Loud

I am knocking on 50’s door—not with hesitation, but with confidence. I am Sydni Sayles—a mother, plus-size model, storyteller, and a woman who has turned every "no" into a stepping stone.

At nine, I lost my 19-year-old sister in childbirth, and in an instant, my childhood ended. I became the backbone of my grieving family—raising a newborn and three toddlers, one suffering from sickle cell anemia, while navigating trauma. But I refused to let my circumstances define me. Education and the arts became my refuge—drawing, singing, modeling, and dancing whenever I could. I even snuck into an audition for The Nutcracker without the proper gear and still landed a role!

Determined to break free, I forged my mother’s signature, filled out my FAFSA, and made it to Dillard University. Modeling opportunities with Tyra Banks and winning the National Lane Bryant Model Search came my way, but once again, duty called, and my dreams had to wait.

But they were never forgotten.

I turned my pain into passion—dedicating my career to working and volunteering in service of marginalized communities. From higher education to workforce development, fundraising, and brand building, I’ve spent my life ensuring that others—especially women and people of color—have access to the opportunities they deserve.

Today, I live my dreams out loud—using my voice to uplift others, helping founders claim their space, land investments, and build legacies. I am a crusader for the underdog, a champion of self-love, and a believer in the power of storytelling.

Being a CC:DC Ambassador would allow me to connect, collaborate, and create with like-minded visionaries. Every connection happens for a reason or a season, and if chosen, I intend to make this journey one that resonates far beyond myself.

This is my time. This is my season. I am your reason
