About

The formula for Coca-Cola. Shake Shack’s Shack Sauce. Grandma’s cookies. And I also have a secret sauce in my DNA that makes my viewpoint unique and enables me to work in the creative industry.

Ever since I was a child, I kept asking questions about the things that are regarded as the absolute truth or that no one dares to doubt. In that sense, I have been enjoying assigning some unique reasons that I came up with to the random things that exist in the world, and I have grown to be considered a quirky kid who always thinks differently and unconventionally. My biggest driving force when I see the world has been curiosity. From the simple objects such as signboards on the street or the shape of the windows or doors to the complicated thoughts like people’s diverse beliefs originating from their different cultural backgrounds, I used to keep asking about ‘why’, instead of accepting something to my mind uncritically.

I believe that a keen observation skill that is flowing through my veins has enabled me to think of the reasons for everything counterintuitively. I sometimes stop and watch random people walking on the streets. Even in the briefest moments, the kinds of clothes they wear, the expressions they make, and the actions they do prompt me to consider their diverse backgrounds or emotions, and further, make me think about how the brand strategy should be to resonate with them. After I watch them closely, I put myself in their shoes and contemplate their own reasons.

By considering and granting their own grounds on contemplation, my strength to find the needs of others and look at them from various angles grows. Thinking about “why” this person found something attractive or uncomfortable has always broadened my perspective and has made me find the resonance between my curiosity and my interest in advertising — the field that also values the ordinary individual’s uniqueness and diversity.
