About

<p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">My upbringing has shaped many qualities about me that have allowed me to navigate life with an understanding and focus I am proud to display personally and professionally. I had the unique privilege of being born and raised on the beautiful island of the Dominican Republic, where I lived for ten years before moving to New York City.&nbsp;</span></p> <p><strong id="docs-internal-guid-baeb9b5e-7fff-4b27-f7f1-0fcce3d2826c" style="font-weight: normal;">&nbsp;</strong></p> <p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Living in D.R. taught me how to be humble, kind, and grateful because of how quickly life's circumstances can change for the better or worse. In my earlier years, I was fortunate to experience family vacations, dinner outings, and other activities I cherished as a child. My mother was the family's primary provider and always ensured my siblings and I were loved and cared for. But unfortunately, my mother unexpectedly lost her job, which forced our family's living situation to change for the worse. Although she did her best, she knew there would be more opportunities for me in the United States, which led me to move to The Bronx, New York, shortly after.</span></p> <p><strong style="font-weight: normal;">&nbsp;</strong></p> <p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Upon moving to the Bronx, I was quickly faced with new challenges. The fast pace of the city and the different environment was a culture shock for me as I was determined yet anxious to adjust. Learning a new language, meeting new friends, and getting familiar with a new neighborhood presented many challenges. New York City has taught me perseverance, the importance of a strong work ethic, and independence. In a short time, I had to adjust to a new reality to survive. I was not fluent in English then, which disadvantaged me as I experienced cultural shock and had to adapt to a new life. American culture molded me into the determined person I am today, especially moving out on my own at 17 and being able to thrive.</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Although some may empathize with my story, these experiences have led me to where I am today, for which I am grateful. This journey has instilled values in me that most people learn later in life or, in some unfortunate cases, not at all. I believe in making the most of challenging situations, limiting excuses, and doing my best. My mom was a great example of perseverance, and I've applied that mentality and more to become the woman I am today.</span></p>
