About

Seize the day. Sometimes clichés speak more than you realize. I've always been one to seize opportunities when they shimmered into view.

Moving to New York City was one such instance where I grabbed hold of the chance with all my might. It was bold, perhaps impulsive, yet undeniably rewarding. This was the first time my dream came true. As a high school girl from Korea who had never been to America, spending Christmas in New York City was my top bucket list. I knew deep down that I would fall in love with the city, and that's exactly what happened.

In just four weeks, I made a pivotal life decision – to make this bustling city my home, I had to change my college. Although my university back then was also very prestigious in Korea, I have never once regretted my choice to come to NYU and embrace this city as my home.

I'll skip the details of the trials I faced right after I came to America, such as overcoming language barriers as the only non-American in my journalism classes, or the struggles of settling into life here all by myself. Of course, I can spend more than three days in a row just spilling all the teas.

But my point is, as of 2023, I successfully settled and graduated to my next dream – getting a job. Beyond the language barrier, there was an even higher and thicker obstacle, visa status. Companies were intimidated and took a step back when I mentioned I'm a student visa holder. It was a frustrating journey, but eventually, I seized the opportunity with the same fervor as before.

After spending the best summer being a creative entrepreneur and prepping the services for art gallery hoppers with that opportunity, I got another huge stroke of luck that played a role in my career path. Such an unexpected move, but as before, this luck paved the way for me into the advertising and media world that I didn't even realize I would enjoy. With the most enthusiastic and passionate team members, I'm learning and growing a lot as a newbie in this industry, constantly finding new avenues to share my passion.

So, I'll always seize the things glittering around me, over and over again. This time, I believe the opportunity in Cannes is waving its hand to me.
