<p>Bernadette is a person who knew providing services to the community would be a key role in her life. Her father was a philanthropist in Santiago, Chile during the 1950’s to 1970’s. Bernadette learned by example and wanted to continue what her father started. Bernadette is from Irish-Chilean decent who grew up in Falls Church, VA. </p> <p> </p> <p>When Bernadette graduated from high school, she began a part-time job in Fairfax County Government for the Office of Children while attending Northern Virginia Community College. This position grew Bernadette’s passion in aiding the citizens of Fairfax County and beyond. </p> <p> </p> <p>While attending college she took a position as a sales associate for Origins Cosmetics at Nordstrom. Nordstrom shaped and created a base of customer service that others could not provide. Here at Nordstrom she learned that no matter what the situation was the client’s satisfaction was key. What she learned at Nordstrom help set the bar for helping clients and the public citizen in her future jobs. </p> <p> </p> <p>She went on to work at ALF-CIO and local non-profits. Bernadette took time to raise her three children, and during this time she did not stop helping her fellow neighbor and the community her family was a part of.</p> <p> </p> <p>After Bernadette’s hiatus, she returned to work in a position that would allow her to help even more so. Bernadette worked in Arlington County Government Department of Human Services. Here she created an efficient work environment which allowed clinicians better serve the community. </p> <p> </p> <p>Bernadette moved on and worked as a contractor for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) during its most trying hurricane season of 2018. When Hurricane Harvey, Irma, and Maria hit The United States, and its territories, FEMA was in desperate need for experts to help the agency to aid Survivors. Here Bernadette was able to help many in Puerto Rico, Texas, and U.S. Virgin Islands. With her passion to giving better service, she was able to help many Survivors who were homeless and hungry find shelter and food. </p> <p> </p> <p>Bernadette is current working at ID.me and helping support the Spanish speaking members. In this role, Bernadette has reached out to thousands of members who’s primary language isn’t English understand the verification process. Plus, lifting a weight off their shoulders when issues surface. </p> <p> </p> <p>Bernadette is always striving to take on roles that challenge her to serve better. She wants to be able to help provide services that will benefit the individual and make this world a better place.</p>
