<div class="page" title="Page 5"> <div class="section"> <div class="layoutArea"> <div class="column"> <p>Laura Twagirayezu is a curator and gallerist determined to share her testimony of the transformative power of art through many art forms focusing on visual art. Laura is intrigued and invested in the Afro-past, Afro-presentism, and Afro-futurism of those on the African continent and in the global African diaspora.</p> <p>By using art as a vehicle for learning, unlearning, creating, and ultimately connecting, Laura’s curatorial practice is an intentional participation in the art world to foster a stronger sense of community for Africans, and African descendants wherever she is.</p> <p>Her debut exhibition in Dublin ‘Under The Sun’ showcased 9 local African, and Afro-Irish artists across 4 mediums. Here the exhibition was an ode to the gloomy skies of Dublin and a celebration of what marvels under this gloomy sun. With an attendance of nearly 200 Dubliners, UMUTI:MA debut was proof of the need for more intentional curation in Ireland. Having worked with the Abbey Theatre as well, Laura continues to find ways to open conversations and dig deeper into contemporary themes as they relate to all of us.</p> </div> </div> </div> </div>
