About

My name is Amber Williams. I am a film and television writer and entertainment professional based in Brooklyn, NY. I have 8+ years of experience in film & television production, content strategy, brand & content marketing, and media advertising. My career began working as an Assistant Buyer at Mindshare (Group M), where I managed television commercial inventory for clients such as Rolex, BP & Castrol, and Kimberly-Clark. I transitioned into freelancing, most notably as a production assistant for an ABC pilot called NY Undercover, Paramount+’s Clifford the Big Red Dog, and Showtime's fifth season of Billions.

To gain more exposure working for a traditional network media company, I became an NBCUniversal Page, and rotated through various departments. I worked in late-night television (SNL and Late Night with Seth Meyers), local news, SYFY cable programming, and the Ad Sales National offices. I then landed at Peacock TV (pun intended), where I designed and led Peacock’s cultural marketing campaigns for Black History Month, Women’s History Month, Asian-American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and more. I also developed some of the platform’s earliest marketing strategies for Original, Acquired, and Library content. Currently, I work at Dotdash Meredith as a Content Strategist, where I create native digital and print content for various advertisers to promote their products on our Lifestyle brands such as PEOPLE, Better Homes & Gardens, Food & Wine, Travel + Leisure, and more.

Additionally, as a writer passionate about creating coming-of-age stories starring young Black women, I earned a Master in Fine Arts in Writing for Film and Television from Emerson College in 2021. Currently, I am writing a web series called High, which is based on my experience as a young Black girl attending a PWI boarding school in Massachusetts. Additionally, I plan to produce a short film I wrote called Amidst All The Noise, which is a heartfelt romance about a young woman who has to wrestle with societal expectations vs. what she truly wants in her heart. I am currently seeking grant funding to produce this film.

Over the course of my career, I've used my creativity to foster diverse and inclusive storytelling. Whether it was in a marketing campaign, a client pitch, or my passion for TV & film writing, my goal is to continue using my voice to amplify the voices of underrepresented communities.
