About

Abridged:

I’m Yolonda Brinkley, a global disruptor and a force in the international DEI space, driven by a lifelong commitment to breaking barriers and creating equal opportunities for all. My journey began at just 8 years old when I experienced the inequities of the Philadelphia Public School System, as a participant in the Desegregation Program, sparking a passion for justice that’s fueled my work ever since. I began my career as a Teach For America corps member, teaching 8th grade French in Baltimore’s inner-city schools, where I witnessed the stark disparities in education. After transitioning to corporate America,I worked at Ford Motor Company with iconic brands Aston Martin, Jaguar, and Land Rover, where I witnessed stark disparities in career advancement and pay for marginalized groups and advocated for diversity and inclusion within the company. As an entrepreneur, I’ve produced high-profile events and provided brand strategy for marginalized voices in film, sports, and entertainment. I've worked with civic organizations and fortune 100 companies including the NAACP, YouTube, Pepsi, Hyundai and Lexus. As the founder of Diversity in Cannes and Black Women Cannes, I’m reshaping the film industry by amplifying underrepresented filmmakers and dismantling the systemic underrepresentation of Black women in film. In a time when DEI initiatives are under threat, my Black job is ensuring that historically excluded voices not only have seats at the table but are empowered to build their own. I will not back down as this is personal. The lives and liveihood of the next generation of diverse advertising, marketing, communications, and entertainment leaders are at stake. My goal is to help prepare them for the revolution, which will not be televised!

Extended:
Yolonda Brinkley is a global disruptor and a powerful force in the DEI space, with an unrelenting commitment to breaking barriers and creating equal opportunity for all. A trailblazer, who began her journey at the tender age 8 years old in the Philadelphia Public School’s Desegregation Program, Yolonda was confronted with the brutal realities of inequality and injustice. That moment ignited a lifelong passion for justice, fueling her drive to level the playing field for underrepresented communities wherever she goes.

Her career reflects this unyielding mission and is rooted in a passion for the underdog, which led her to education. Selected by Teach For America, the highly competitive national teacher corps, Yolonda taught 8th grade French in Baltimore’s inner-city schools, where she witnessed firsthand the educational inequities between districts, while working tirelessly with her students to bridge the divide. After 4 years, she transitioned into corporate America working at Ford Motor Company with iconic brands Aston Martin, Jaguar, and Land Rover. During her tenure she worked with Employee Resource Groups and joined diversity councils to ensure an inclusive workplace and equal advancement opportunities for diverse work groups. As an entrepreneur, Yolonda continues her DEI pursuits providing brand strategy and publicity for marginalized actors, directors and athletes and producing high-profile events for the NAACP Hollywood Bureau, the Hollywood Black Film Festival, as well as YouTube, Pepsi, and Lexus, under contract with advertising agency Walton Isaacson, always keeping a sharp focus on the inclusion of marginalized communities.

Yolonda has spent decades breaking down barriers and forging partnerships that empower underrepresented communities. She’s fiercely dedicated to leveling the playing field for underrepresented professionals in advertising, marketing, communications and entertainment. As the visionary behind Diversity in Cannes, the independent movement promoting inclusion at the Cannes Film Festival, she didn’t just create a space—for the past 16 years, she fundamentally changed how the industry engages with diversity, bringing marginalized voices into the global spotlight. Her work now extends to Black Women Cannes, where she is dismantling the systemic underrepresentation of Black women in film and making sure they have the platform, recognition, and opportunities they’ve long been denied.

But Yolonda's work isn’t just about impact; it's personal. In a time when Diversity Equity Inclusion initiatives are under attack, Yolonda’s Black job is doubling down on her commitment to preserving DEI globally. Her mission is to ensure the historically excluded have seats at all tables, while simultaneously encouraging them to build their own!

Yolonda Brinkley is more than an advocate—she’s a force, unapologetically fighting to ensure the next generation of advertising, marketing, communications and entertainment leaders are prepared for the revolution, which will not be televised!
