I’ve gotten better at it. But, honest truth, it’s something I grapple with to this day.</p> <p> </p> <p>Most people are just trying to live their best life within the context of theirs. Everything my dad said that day hit home. He was not set up for success. None of my family were.</p> <p> </p> <p>This conversation stuck with me. And remains a throughline in every direction I've taken. In hindsight, it’s probably why I ultimately landed in advertising recruitment. How can WE set people up for success, while still giving them the space to OWN it?</p> <p> </p> <p>As a creative recruiter, my role is to set agencies and candidates up for success. It's helping an agency diagnose what they need. It's helping talent to own their narratives. It's a lot of things. There is no one problem. There is no one solution. It’s a field of gray where every step you take requires you to ask, “what do I need at this point in my journey?”</p> <p> </p> <p>Every hiring manager, every job seeking talent, is moving through this field full of holes. I don’t see myself as a leader shepherding a flock. Or a follower going through the motions. I’m a guide. A guide who knows first hand how easy it is to get hurt by these holes in the ground.
