Before delving into advertising, Ty pursued a bachelor's degree in Marketing at Taylor University with a full tuition scholarship that required him to be a leader on campus during his four years. In Ty's first two years, he recognized the cultural challenges that faced diverse Black male students from different countries and inner cities, which led to many Black males transferring or dropping out. In response, he founded "Camaraderie," a club aimed at fostering accountability and equitable solutions. By 2025, all 15 original members would have graduated, serving as a testament for future classes.

Ty's career started with an incredible opportunity to join eight others in the Marcus Graham Project in Los Angeles to be part of a three-month advertising stint with Red Bull and Buick. Taking full advantage of this opportunity, Ty packed his car with his belongings and shipped it from Chicago to LA to commit himself to getting a job in the industry. There, he dedicated himself to his role and team, putting forward the best work possible. Notably, Ty identified a strategic opportunity for Red Bull to reactivate Moechella, a Go-Go music festival that was sued by Coachella for obvious reasons. The concept: rebrand the festival as #Moefest and provide the necessary infrastructure to keep Go-Go music alive, all while, of course, selling Red Bull cans. Red Bull immediately bought the idea and began reaching out to influencers in the area.

From this work, Ty was hired by Deutsch LA only four days after the Marcus Graham project. At Deutsch LA, he took the initiative to revitalize Deutsch LA's Black ERG, steering it towards actionable allyship. He also orchestrated an engaging agency book club featuring Marcus Collins, author of "For The Culture." These efforts earned him the prestigious 2023 Rising Star award at Deutsch LA and a coveted nomination for the 4A’s IAAS program. In his day-to-day career, his role as a Junior Strategist has proven to be pivotal for both NerdWallet and Walmart+.

Ty's professional journey is matched by his personal interests. He immerses himself in cultural exploration, from traversing new cities to exploring his West African ancestry. Additionally, he remains deeply invested in community initiatives, serving as a board member for Pursue Scholars, an organization in Chicago dedicated to providing scholarships and mentorship to aspiring professionals, thus paying forward the opportunities that shaped his own journey.
